Video 1 - Orientation phase
In this video, I talk about the assignment and the current state of the game. I try to explain how I take all the information in and how I evaluate everything. This is a crucial first step in the process when you are a freelancer as it is most important to really know what the game is about and what it has to offer in its current state. Altho my personal opinion does not represent the target group it is still very valuable as the experience you and I as UX and UI designers carry with us can help us spot things that we have encountered in previous projects.

At the end, you will see me summarize everything I have seen and I will start to make notes on things I would like to do while user-testing! This is such an important thing to do as the next step is going to transfer our speculation into concrete evidence.
Video 2 - User testing
Now that we have a somewhat understanding of what the game it is up to me (us) to define the facts. So that is why we have to do user testing. We want to capture and analyze the global and common problems so that we can tackle those ones by one!

What you will see me do is explain various research techniques. Note that these are one of many so be sure to explore other ones as well. After that, I will be sharing one user test with you guys. This will give you the chance to experience what it's like to have someone test your game with pre-made notes. In this case, I requested the tester to simply say everything he sees and thinks. He is not allowed to ask me anything. This is so that any confusion has to be explained by him and that is such valuable data to you and me!
Video 3 - Low fidelity prototype
Now that we have a great understanding of what the user experience and know what we want to resolve, it is time to start sketching and make a low fidelity prototype to try to find a way to better the user experience.

In this video, I have gone ahead and drafted a PDF file for you guys to read. In this document, I share the results of all the user tests I have done. I will go through with them one by one. I will also start on a mid/high fidelity prototype to give you guys some idea of what I am going to work towards! The PDF file can be found underneath the video on this page.
The PDF file
Video 4 - High fidelity prototype
As promised I will, in this video, share the progress I have made on the high fidelity prototype. I am quite happy with the result. In the video, I will share all the possible interactions as well which segments were requested and which segments were made based on the insight of the user testings I did.

This video sadly concludes the series. I will, however, make sure that once the changes go live to include a link to the steam page. The game is free to play so there is no reason to check them out and my work once it has been updated. If you are quick you will be able to experience the before and after feels, as implementing does take a bit of time!
